VELscope Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection saves lives. Cancers of the mouth and oropharynx (the back of the throat) are becoming increasingly common, particularly those associated with HPV. VELscope is a painless, non-invasive screening technology that uses a safe blue light to help identify changes in the oral tissues that may not be visible during a routine examination. While it is not a diagnostic test, it serves as an important adjunct to a comprehensive oral cancer screening and can help determine whether an area requires closer evaluation or biopsy.

DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Detection

Not every cavity is visible on an X-ray or with the naked eye. DIAGNOdent uses a harmless laser to detect early changes in tooth structure caused by decay, often before a cavity becomes large enough to require extensive treatment. This allows us to monitor suspicious areas closely or intervene earlier with more conservative, tooth-preserving treatment whenever appropriate.

One of the most frustrating challenges in dentistry is diagnosing a cracked tooth. Many cracks are simply too small to be seen on an X-ray, yet they can cause significant pain, sensitivity, and discomfort.

InnerView™ QPD (Quantitative Percussion Diagnostics) is the only objective adjunctive technology available to help evaluate the structural integrity of a tooth. By precisely measuring the way a tooth responds to a controlled percussion stimulus, it provides valuable information that cannot be obtained from an X-ray alone.

Very few dental practices in the Seattle and Eastside area offer this advanced technology.

At Enso Dentistry, we use InnerView QPD as part of our commitment to evidence-based, biomimetic care. It helps us identify teeth that may have structural compromise and supports our clinical findings when diagnosing cracked or fractured teeth.

Our use of the technology doesn’t stop there. After restoring a compromised tooth with a bonded biomimetic restoration, such as a ceramic onlay, we can perform the test again to evaluate changes in the tooth’s structural response. This objective before-and-after comparison helps us assess whether the restoration has improved the tooth’s biomechanical stability and provides another level of confidence in the treatment we provide.

Even more importantly, iTero allows us to compare scans taken over months or years to monitor changes such as tooth wear, gum recession, shifting teeth, bite changes, and movement following orthodontic treatment. This helps us identify small problems before they become larger ones.

ResMed FDA-Approved Home Sleep Test

Sleep apnea affects millions of people, many of whom have never been diagnosed. We offer an FDA-cleared ResMed home sleep test that allows you to be evaluated from the comfort of your own home. The device records key information about your breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, and sleep patterns while you sleep naturally in your own bed. The results are interpreted by a board-certified sleep physician and help determine whether treatment is needed. Identifying and treating sleep apnea can improve energy, reduce daytime fatigue, and lower the risk of serious long-term health problems.
