A comprehensive, long-term approach
At Enso Dentistry, we take a comprehensive approach to oral appliance therapy. Before determining whether a patient is a suitable candidate for a MAD, Dr. Keerti requires a comprehensive oral examination, including:
- Head and neck examination
- Brief TMJ evaluation
- Periodontal examination
- Comprehensive dental examination
- Dental radiographs
- CBCT imaging
These evaluations help us assess the health of the teeth, supporting structures, jaw joints, and overall suitability for oral appliance therapy. If dental or periodontal treatment is needed, Dr. Keerti will advise you on that.
Ongoing Care and Monitoring
Our preference is that patients receiving MAD therapy become established patients of Enso Dentistry. This allows us to provide appropriate long-term monitoring rather than treating the appliance as a standalone service.
For established patients
Ongoing mini-examinations are provided at no additional charge during regularly scheduled six-month preventive hygiene visits. These examinations include monitoring of the bite, dental health, periodontal stability, and TMJ health to identify any changes that may occur during oral appliance therapy. Your appliance is also checked and cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner at these appointments.
For individuals who are not regular patients
Follow-up evaluations and visits are billed separately.
The Process
1. Consultation and Evaluation
Comprehensive examination and imaging as needed.
2. Sleep Testing
Home sleep test interpreted by a sleep specialist.
3. Custom Appliance and Fitting
Digital scans or impressions, appliance fabrication, and initial fitting.
4. Follow-Up and Adjustment
Follow-up visits to ensure comfort, function, and effectiveness.
5. Ongoing Monitoring
Regular monitoring of your dental health, bite, TMJ, and appliance over time.
Medical Insurance
We can submit claims to medical insurance and have worked with all manner of insurance companies. Coverage depends on the patient’s individual plan, benefits, and out-of-network provisions.
When applicable, the appliance is billed under HCPCS code E0486. Oral appliance therapy for primary snoring alone is generally not covered by medical insurance.
Appliance Options and Warranty
The appliance carries a 1–2 year warranty depending on the appliance, and the reason why it needs to be replaced. Replacement bands may incur a nominal charge.
Our goal is not simply to provide an appliance, but to ensure that treatment is appropriate, effective, and monitored over time.
